The Knoxville Museum of Art presents the Ninth Annual Sarah Jane Hardrath Kramer Lecture

Dr. Deborah L. Mack, associate director for community and constituent services at the National African American Museum of History and Culture at the Smithsonian Institution will present the Ninth Annual Sarah Jane Hardrath Kramer Lecture the Knoxville Museum of Art on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at 6pm.

Dr. Mack will speak about “The National Museum of African American History & Culture: A People’s Journey. A Nation’s Story.” Set to open on the mall in Washington in the fall of 2016, the new museum will be a place where all Americans can learn about the richness and diversity of the African American experience, what it means to their lives, and how it helped shape this nation.

The annual Sarah Jane Hardrath Kramer Lecture honors the memory of a dedicated staff member of the Dulin Gallery of Art and the Knoxville Museum of Art and celebrates her passion for the visual arts and learning. Each year the series brings to Knoxville a prominent artist, art historian, art educator, or expert in a related field

The event is free and open to the public thanks to support from the Sarah Jane Hardrath Kramer Fund, The Melrose Foundation, and Wayne R. Kramer. Please contact kfaulkner@knoxart.org or 865.525.6101 x 246 to make a reservation. Reserved seats will be held until 6pm.

The museum is located in downtown Knoxville at 1050 World’s Fair Park and is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday 10am–5pm, and Sunday 1pm-5pm. Admission and parking are free.
