C. A. Debelius is on the leading edge of applying digital technology as a tool for cutting-edge architectural design. His computer-generated models represent elegant and intricate configurations of space, form and color. Many of his designs are inspired by modern paintingsparticularly the precise, abstract canvases of Kasimir Malevich (1878-1935) and El Lissitsky (1890-1941)in which artists searched for the purest expression of color and form.

The exhibition will include a broad selection of Debelius’ schematic drawings and conceptual models for a variety of public and private buildings. In addition, he will bring
his design concepts to life for viewers by using the Museum’s gallery space as an experimental arena. Among Debelius’ past projects are designs for private residences such as Flat Stanley Residence, Union County, North Carolina as well as large public designs such as Lifesaving Station/Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina and Elevated Pool/Watertaxi Station, Chicago, Illinois. Debelius currently serves as Associate Professor of design at the University of Tennessee’s School of Architecture.
